Great review from decibel shower

“NWOBHM fans rejoice! Throw up some horns and swing your bullet belts around your heads. For the ultimate Trad Metal eagle of 2019 has landed! 'A NEW WORLD', the brand new, all killer no filler album from Millennium - UK (featuring former Toranaga vocalist Mark Duffy) is a ten track rocket ride of nuclear powered ferocity that will have your head banging like a barn door in a hurricane! Yes, there's nothing better than an old school band totally killing it with a brand new album and MILLENNIUM have done just that with 'A NEW WORLD'. It's hard, it's heavy, it's fast, and most importantly it's mind blowingly epic! The production is clean, sharp and sounds absolutely huge! The opening assault of 'GIVE ME A SIGN' lets you know from the off that you're in for a sonic treat. And with the apocalyptic blast of 'WORLD WAR III' following hot on its heels you find yourself pumping your fist to riffs bigger than Mandy Lion's ego! Next up is the title track and it's real high point. Duffy's vocals soaring through lyrics that talk of a human future beyond the stars. Crop circles, alien intervention, an exodus from planet earth, it's all here like 'Hanger 18' meets 'The Final Countdown' and I love it! And as for 'SUMMON THE DRAGONS', if you look to the heavens I'm sure you'll see Dio and Denzil jumping up and down on their clouds and throwing horns left, right, and centre! Honestly, 'A NEW WORLD' is home to some seriously killer heavy metal. 'KILL OR BE KILLED' has real snarly Dee Snider vibe to it and 'OBSOLETE' is the type of thing Rob Halford should be doing instead of messing about with Christmas albums and cat pictures on Instagram!! The final celebratory flag waving rampage of 'VICTORY' brings the whole thing to a thoroughly satisfyling metallic climax and YOU WILL find yourself hitting play again even before the dust has had a chance to settle. British Heavy Metal doesn't come much better than this so do yourself a favour and grab a copy today.”

AWAKENING REVIEW

NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HEAVY METAL.COM  - REVIEW

Millennium Awakening Review.

By | Published November 11, 2017

New Wave of British Heavy Metal boys Millennium have a crunching new album out. Awakening. It’s good enough (and loud enough) to wake anybody. I mean that in a good way!

Back in the NWOBHM halcyon days saw Millennium form. A debut album appeared in the mid-80s which was well received but did not generate big bags of money for the band, who went their separate ways towards the end of the decade.

Spring forward three decades and Millennium reform and do a few festivals. That new momentum has seen the recording of this fine new album which features some original members, not least vocalist Mark Duffy.

False Reality starts things off. A proper attention grabber with a monster riff, nifty lead work and a cutting comment on modern society. Meaty and in your face from note one.

Have a listen for yourself. Here’s the lyric video.

The following ten tracks all hit the spot and then some. Riffs and big chords fly around effortlessly as do the punch but never too flashy solos. Pounding tub-thumping and bass back it up with Duffy spitting out the vox with venom and feeling equally as demanded by the variety of the song writing.

Searching hits hard. Lies all Lies is a proper “fist puncher” with the shout-along chorus.

The Calling boasts a slashing riff which cuts like a rapier interspersed with a bridge that sticks in the mind. Witch Hunt (the stand-out on an album of stand-outs) is both darkly doomy and slightly proggy with a medieval tinge to fit the subject matter. Superb.

The closing trio of When Mad Men Rule, Revolution Calls and Possessed is a triumph. No mistake. Indeed, Possessed has another of those shout-along sections which bore in to the brain and stay there.

Millennium have an album which will appeal to the old NWOBHM-types such as your reviewer who remember the band from back then and any self-respecting rock/metal lover of today.

Awakening is excellent indeed. The NWOBHM origins are obvious and the album is (forgive me a cliché) “all killer and no filler”. A crunching slab of well-crafted, well-performed metal with attitude and feeling.

New Album Reviews

Check out these great reviews of our upcoming album, Awakening.

Review by Decibel Geek

In what seems to be a new trend of more obscure bands from the 80s resurging The Meister has uncovered another gem. Welcome to the new Millennium, one might say (pun fully intended). The Awakening album from UK’s Millennium is set for self-release in October 2017. After repeatedly listening to the album on commutes to and from work the past week or so, I can comfortably announce that Awakening will be a top ten of the year contender! As any of my readers will probably know, the NWOBHM style is a preferred genre for me and Awakening is a shining example of it thriving today. The entire album exudes a raw energy chock full of power and melody.

Millennium‘s Awakening album starts off exactly as I like…an infectious raw guitar riff. That’s the kind of thing that hooks me right off the bat and makes me perk up with full attention. The riff starts on left speaker with drums/rest of band pounding in right after about 12 seconds. The song, “False Reality”, charges along nicely on the backbone of that riff. Mark Duffy‘s vocals are strong and clear, chock full of both power and melody. Tasteful solos peppered throughout the track enhance this traditional metal gem. A perfect window into Awakening, check out the official lyric video below.

“Rise Above” is brow beating in a short description! A little less hooky with less melody than the lead but still an incredibly engaging track. The acoustical beginnings of “Searching” taper back the assault. But don’t be fooled here. It’s not long before the full on sonic pummeling crashes in once again. The lyrical subject matter is particularly relative to me at this current moment……

Following the 43-second long interlude “The Spell” comes the title track, “Awakening”. Over five minutes of thrashy riffage bliss featuring a charging verse that would surely be a headbangers delight during live shows. Next up,“Lies All Lies” could be the cream of the crop from Awakening. The assaulting pace easily bores itself into your brain another complete fist raiser. Almost with a larger than life aura, “The Calling” leads off the back half keeping your fist high in the air. In no way does Awakening slow down nor lose pace through to its dying moments. Tracks, “Witch Hunt”, “When Mad Men Rule” (with a super catchy chorus), “Revolution Calls” and “Possessed” complete this ensemble of classic metal mastery.

A definite contender for my top ten albums of 2017!

'Caught In A Warzone' Out Now!

2016 will see the release of 'Caught in a Warzone' on CD and vinyl on the 'No Remorse Records' label. The CD will be available to buy February 19th, with the vinyl release coming later in the year in July! "Having received great reviews for the debut album (that now is considered among the classic post-NWOBHM releases) Millennium quickly set about writing and recording new songs. The demo songs for the second album were recorded over three different sessions during 1985 and the line-up was Mark Duffy (vocals), Mike Muskett (guitar), Pete McArdle (guitar), Dave Price (bass), Steve Mennell (drums) and Dave Hardy that replaced Pete McArdle on guitar on the last recording session. Unfortunately, Millennium didn't secure a record deal for another release and these recordings were locked in a closet for the last 30 years... until now." - No Remorse Records.
